COVID-19 Update

You will see changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:

• You will be screened for COVID exposure upon entering our office and your temperature will be taken and recorded.

• You will be encouraged not to arrive more than 5 minutes early.

• We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some in the reception area, as well as other places in the office, for you to use as needed.

• According to CDC guidelines, all patients will be required to wear a mask while in the office. If you do not have your own, we will provide you with a mask.

• We have used heavy weight plastic to isolate two operatories and all procedures producing aerosols will be completed in these isolated operatories.

• You will see that our waiting room no longer offers magazines, newspapers, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.

• Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.

• We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

• We have implemented an online payment option, to reduce the social distance challenges of multiple people being checked out simultaneously.

Do You Have Sensitive Teeth?

Millions of adults struggle with hypersensitive teeth, meaning they are sensitive to hot and cold temperatures, very sugary or acidic foods and drinks and vigorous tooth brushing. Above the gum line, dentin is protected with a coating of enamel. Unfortunately, as enamel is worn away or decayed, dentin becomes exposed and receptive to sensations that cause painful nerve responses.

This can also occur as the result of receding gums, a common symptom of gum disease. If your teeth are sensitive, please call Straub Dentistry today at (855) 765-1387 to schedule a consultation.

Teeth Grinding or Bruxism Can Be Treated

There are a number of things you can do if you feel either you or somebody you love is suffering from nighttime teeth grinding or bruxism. For starters, try to alleviate whatever stress in your life you can. Kick the tobacco habit and heavy drinking, and try not to drink too much coffee.

Severe cases may need to be fitted with a mouth guard or have their teeth reshaped to eliminate unusual alignment. If you feel you may be suffering from bruxism, call Straub Dentistry at (855) 765-1387 to schedule a consultation.

Foods That Stain Your Teeth

Did you know that tea can stain your teeth even more than coffee? Many other foods can cause tooth staining, including deeply colored sauces like tomato and curry, highly-acidic sports and energy drinks, red wine, cola, dark berries, artificially colored candy and many others.

At Straub Dentistry we recommend that you rinse your mouth with water after consuming any of these stain causing food, or use a straw to sip sodas and iced tea. Please call us at (855) 765-1387 if you have any questions about foods and your dental health.
