A recently published online article from the Journal of Dental Research describes scientists growing a human tooth in a laboratory. By combining certain types of gum tissue cells with mouse embryonic cells, a tooth was created. Currently, dental implants and dental bridges are commonly used to replace a missing tooth. This research indicates that we potentially may be able to grow a new tooth when one is lost. How cool is that?
